Appriss enters partnership with National Center for Victims of Crime

VINE® provider sets goal to expand its reach to victims, service providers

Louisville, KY - Appriss Inc., provider of VINE® and other technology solutions that help government agencies serve and protect their citizens, has forged a formal partnership with the National Center for Victims of Crime, the nation’s leading resource and advocacy organization for crime victims.

The agreement enables the organizations to work together to enhance the services they offer to crime victims and advocates.

Among other facets of the partnership, Appriss will be a sponsor of key events for the National Center, including its bi-annual national conference and quarterly Training Institutes, in addition to offering scholarships for service providers to attend these valuable learning opportunities.

In exchange, the National Center will share expertise and technical assistance to educate the Appriss team about a variety of victims’ issues, including stalking, identity theft, and civil justice.

“Our partnership with Appriss builds on the shared belief that access to timely and accurate information is critical to victims of crime,” said Mary Lou Leary, executive director of the National Center for Victims of Crime.  “We’re delighted to be working with one of the nation’s premier technology innovators, and look forward to advancing the victim services field through this exciting initiative.”

Appriss and the National Center will work jointly to ensure that victims who call their respective toll-free numbers receive up-to-date, comprehensive information about resources in their community, including counseling, legal assistance, and safe housing. Currently, Appriss service representatives field calls for VINE programs in 1,500 communities in 41 states, while the National Center’s toll-free HelpLine — 1-800-FYI-CALL offers referrals to more than 10,000 service providers throughout the nation.

The two organizations will also collaborate to produce a range of bulletins, white papers, and resource kits to be made available for victim service providers. In addition, Appriss and the National Center plan to team up on public awareness efforts during National Stalking Awareness Month in January, National Crime Victims’ Rights Week in April, and National Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with the leading advocacy group on victims’ issues,” said Mike Davis, Appriss president and co-founder. “As we strive to develop stronger relationships with service providers, the National Center for Victims of Crime will be an invaluable resource. At the same time, we look forward to helping the National Center advance its mission through our sponsorships and other support.”

Appriss provides innovative technology solutions that help governments serve and protect their citizens. Its flagship product, VINE® — the National Victim Notification Network — keeps crime victims informed about the custody and court status of their offenders over the telephone, through the Internet, or by e-mail. Other innovative products and services include VINE Protective Order™, which automatically notifies petitioners when protective orders are served on respondents; JusticeXchange™, the leading solution for connecting criminal justice agencies nationwide; and Alertxpress®, a high-speed n otification for government agencies. The company’s newest product, and MethCheck™, is an automated tool that allows law enforcement to monitor purchases of pseudoephedrine, one of the components in the manufacture of methamphetamine, and to “watch” specific individuals who exceed the legal limits imposed by state law.

Established in 1985, National Center for Victims of Crime is the nation’s leading resource and advocacy organization dedicated to forging a national commitment to help crime victims rebuild their lives. The National Center serves individuals, families, and communities harmed by crime through direct victim assistance; public education and outreach; research, advocacy and lobbying; and training and technical assistance to victim service providers, counselors, attorneys, law enforcement officers, and allied professionals.
