Vienna, VA.--- AT&T Government Solutions has been awarded a $3 million, 5-year contract to continue to support a Web-based repository that allows federal officials to quickly find available prison bed space.
The Department of Justice's Office of the Federal Detention Trustee (OFDT) awarded the original contract to AT&T and its partner, Appriss Inc. of Louisville, Ky., in July 2003 to build the National Repository for Detention Space Availability.
OFDT and other agencies, such as the U.S. Marshals Service, use the repository to identify state, local and private detention space available for federal use. The repository also serves as a central database of available detention locations and allows officials to quickly identify where detainees can be housed in a particular geographic area.
AT&T Government Solutions and Appriss also partnered in July 2000 on the federal Victim Notification System (VNS). Currently, VNS notifies victims on the custody and court status of federal offenders under the jurisdiction of the FBI, Federal Bureau of Prisons and U.S. Attorneys.
